Closed between exhibitions and during university holidays.


The galleries are on the west end of the first floor of Altgeld Hall.
As with any university, parking is much easier to find on the weekends.

To Altgeld Hall from the North or South:
Take I-294
(Tri-State Tollway) or I-39 to I-88 (East-West Tollway).
Take I-88 west (from I-294) or east (from I-39) to the DeKalb (Annie Glidden Road) exit.
Take Annie Glidden Road north to Lincoln Highway
(Route 38), and turn right.
Take Lincoln Highway to Castle Drive, and turn left.
Follow Castle Drive around the "lagoon" (pond) to College Ave, and turn left.
Altgeld Hall is large castle building to your right.


To Altgeld Hall from Downtown Chicago:
Take I-290 West
(Eisenhower) to I-88 West (East-West Tollway).
Take I-88 West to the second DeKalb exit, Annie Glidden Road.
Take Annie Glidden to Lincoln Highway
(Route 38), and turn right.
Take Lincoln Highway to Castle Drive, and turn left.
Follow Castle Drive around the "lagoon" (pond) to College Ave, and turn left.
Altgeld Hall is large castle building to your right.


Altgeld Hall Visitor Parking:
Visitor parking (currently $5 per day; free on weekends) is available in a lot on Carroll Ave, the first stop light east of Annie Glidden Road on Lincoln Highway.

Also, limited street parking, and handicapped parking, are available at metered spots in front of Altgeld Hall, at the intersection of College Avenue and Castle Drive.

On Saturdays, and during openings and other special events, free parking is available in the lot between Jack Arends Hall (the Art Building) and College Ave.



DeKalb Public Transportation Information:
The Huskie Line provides public transportation for all residents of NIU's campus in DeKalb as well as the DeKalb metropolitan area. Visit the NIU Huskie Bus Line website at www.huskieline.com for bus schedules and travel information. All Huskie Buses are accessible for persons with disabilities, but special Freedom Mobile buses are also offered specifically for persons with disabilities.
