Festival of Maps, Chicago. We'll visit the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery for The Grammar of Landscape, HereThereEverywhere at the Chicago Cultural Center, and Mapping the Self at the Museum of Contemporary Art to view exhibitions in which artists explore the ideas of mapping and place.

Saturday, February 23
Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper, Chicago.
Head to the Art Institute of Chicago to view seperate solo retrospective exhibitions of these two American art icons.

Friday, April 25
ARTropolis: Art Chicago and the Merchandise Mart International Antiques Fair. The Merchandise Mart will feature two main events: Art Chicago and The International Antiques Fair including over 100 galleries from around the world and over 100 top antiques dealers.

Art Festival and Skokie Sculpture Park. You asked for an art fair, and we are going to give it to you! Spend one weekend date (yet to be determined) at the North Shore Art Festival with a visit to the Skokie Sculpture Park.

Anderson Japanese Gardens, Rockford. This bus trip primes us for our 2008 exhibitions of Japanese prints from the Richard F. Grott Family Collection.

Annual Gallery Season Openings, Chicago. Bus drop off at River North (for galleries and shopping at Paper Merchant and Pearl Paint) with bus shuttle to West Loop for MORE GALLERY OPENINGS.

Persian Immersian
Chicago: Mirror of the Invisible World at the Goodman Theater, Persian Ceramics at the Art Institute and a meal at Reza's.

Madison, Wisconsin Farmer's Market & Art Exhibits
Explore downtown madison and the Dane County Farmer's market which features produce, arts & crafts, info booths and street musicians. Visit the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art for "MMoCA Collects" and the "Wisconsin Triennial." Options include visiting the Chazen Museum to see the Jennifer Argus "Silver Wings and Golden Scales" installation and "Jane Hammond: Paperwork", or exploring more of downtown Madison's eclectic shops and galleries.

Artopolis
Travel to Chicago's Merchandise Mart for the Chicago Art Expo & International Antiques Fair. Also included in the admission price are three other art fairs: the Intuit Show of outsider art, the Artist Project and the Bridge Art Fair (all in the Mart building!).

Birds in Art, Culture and Nature
Trip to see two exhibitons at the Illinois State Museum Chicago Gallery - "Audubon:The Birds of America" and "While All the Tribes of Birds Sang", an exploration of the use of bird imagery in art and design from various cultures and time periods.
After lunch, we will trek with the Museum's own Assistant Director and birder Pete Olson through Jackson Park's Wooded Isle in search of real-life avain encounters.

Textile-themed trip will contrast Christian Dior's Chicago designs at the Chicago Historical Museum and Mayan textiles at the National Museum of Mexican Art (formerly the Mexican Fine Arts Center).

Racine, Wisconsin
Join us for a visit to the newly-reopened Racine Art Museum, reknown for its wonderful collection of fine crafts and the Charles Wustum Museum of Fine Arts. At the R.A.M.: "Akio Takamori: Between Clouds and Memory" an amazing exhibition of ceramic figures portraying historical characters, contemporary society and villagers recalled from the artist's childhood in Japan. The delightful Wustum will be hosting "Watercolor Wisconsin 2007".

African and African-American Legacies
Celebrate Black History with a trip to the Chicago Cultural Center for "Lasting Foundations: The Art and Achitecture of Africa" and a viewing of David Philpot sculptures which evoke a sense of Aftrican ceremonial artifacts. The trip continues to the DuSable Museum of African-American History for a tour of the exhibits, "From Dreams to Determination: The Legacy of Dr. Percy and Anna Julian" and "381 Days: The Montgomery Bus Boycott Story".

Springfield Outing
Don't miss this opportunity to see the acclaimed Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. We will begin the day at Frank Lloyd-Wright's Dana-Thomas House (one of his best and most intact). We will also walk through the historical district in Springfield and visit the Museum of Funerary Customs.

Three museums plus time to eat luch and enjoy one of the last sunny and warm-ish days of fall: MASSIVE CHANGE: The Future of Global Design at the Museum of Contemporary Art, THE MISSING PEACE: Artists consider the Dalai Lama at LUMA (Loyola University Museum of Art) and DRAWING AS PROCESS IN CONTEMPORARY ART at the Smart Museum of Art.

Here to the Moon
Venture out to see some nearby wonders that you may have overlooked in Wheaton, St. Charles and Geneva. "Moon Project" at Fermi Lab Gallery with talk by artist Sallie Wolf; explore the wonders of American Science and Surplus; visit the West Chicago Historical Museum and view the "I (heart) Chicago" exhibition at the Orleans Street Gallery with dinner in St. Charles.

Friday, May 19
First, we'll go to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago to see exhibits by Andy Warhol and contemporary existential Chicago cartoonist Chris Ware. Then we'll head to the River North Gallery District, where the annual NIU MFA exhibition is opening.

Members Only trip to Art Chicago, The Thomas Blackman international art expo and the Chicago Antiques Fair, held side-by-side this year at the Merchandise Mart.

Private tour of Crabtree Farm, a world-class Arts & Crafts collection on Chicago's North Shore.

This trip is organized in conjunction with our Poetry and Art exhibition, necessary angel.

Pompeii in Chicago.
A visit to the fascinating ancient world "Pompeii: Stories from an Eruption" at the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago. This exhibition explored the archaeological finds of the ancient city petrified by the volcanic blast of Mount Vesuvias.

This "Forced-March" Chicago Art Extravaganza included stops at the Smart Museum, the Renaissance Society, the Museum of Surgical Science, the Chicago Cultural Center, the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Butcher Shop/Dogmatic gallery and a special "after hours" tour of the Walsh Gallery.

First, we attended the Pan/Sonic opening at the NIU Chicago Gallery and then headed south to the Pilsen neighborhood for their regular "2nd Friday" Artist Studio Openings.

Saturday, October 29
Members only trip to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to see the Grant Wood exhibit and tour Grant Wood's studio.


Saturday, October 8
A trip into Chicago to hear the curator's talk for The Art of Burma. The day also included visits to both contemporary and traditional Asian galleries.

Saturday, September 24
Chicago: Toulouse-Lautrec and Montmartre at the Art Institute & lunch at a French bistro. Images of Paris in the Photograph gallery, and Anchor Graphics presents printmaking demonstrations.
